What to consider
When it comes to selecting a configuration, you'll first need to consider the application. Transport solutions are available with one large compartment, two compartments or in select sizes - three compartments.
Ideal for quick transports, low security risk transports
Ideal for medium and high security transports where male and female prisoners must be seperate
Ideal for medium or high security transports where male and females must be seperate. Triple insert also offers a smaller side load compartment, ideal for juvinilles, special needs or high risk prisoners.
Your camera system should be setup to give the officers the best view inside the compartment[s]. The number of cameras will be decided primarily by the number of compartments, and if you wish to have a back up camera.
Heating & Air Conditioning
Because these inserts are so large, the air flow to these compartments is greatly reduced. Although not required, HVAC systems are strongly reccomended. There two standard HVAC options.
Purchase the vehicle with the OEM HVAC unit installed in the rear. A distribution system with vents installed in the compartments is then attached to the stock OEM unit.
This option delivers heat and air conditioning just like first option, however requires the installer to add the auxillary heater and air conditioner - which involves cutting into the coolant and exsisting air conditioning system. Don't be fooled by the up front cost savings, this option may be more costly in the long term.
If the vehicle may double as a "patty wagon" at large incidents, or prisoners may be unloaded without the aid of a sally port we reccomend adding loading lights. These lights can also act as scene lights or reverse lights if desired, depending on the options choosen.
Seat Dividers and Seat Belts
Although the seats have a non slip coating, during stop and go traffic or hard braking the prisoner[s] can slide on the seats. Seat dividers are designed to prevent just that, but still allow for easy and safe loading and unloading.
Although grab straps come standard, lap belts are available as added options.
Door Open Alarm
With the addition of a door open alarm, the driver will be immediatly alerted if the rear door should be open, either accidentally or intentionally.
Adding an intercom gives the driver the abiliy to listen and talk to prisoners being trasnported, a great addition to multi compartment solutions.
Roof Power Vent
The roof power vent gives you added airflow without the cost of adding the HVAC system, however it will not provide heat to the compartments.
